I don’t usually read non-fiction/memoir type books, but when I do, they usually leave me wanting more. Adventure by Chicken Bus was no exception. I LOVE learning about new experiences, information, and cultures.
In this book, we follow the author and her family as they leave Canada to travel and live in Central America for 2 years. I am amazed at how well Janet LoSole was able to fit all of their adventures into this novel. Some of my favorite trips were when they visited the turtle nests, the Panama Canal, and the very out of the way Mono Feliz.
I think taking this trip was a great way to immerse their children into the culture and to learn their history and language. It inspires me to try to do something similar for my future kids as I also want to homeschool them.
LoSole has a way of writing that makes her book fun and enjoyable to read. There were plenty of moments where I was smiling or laughing when a particular event occurred. I definitely recommend this book to other backpackers or to anyone with kids who are thinking about taking an extended trip to Central America. I learned so much!
A big thank you to the author and publisher for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review!
