Darkend is a collection of poems by an anonymous poet who goes by Hydrus. In this book, the poetry captures the ups and downs of life. Not only does this book have poetry and quotes, but it also has photography. I thought the pictures add to the mood of the poems and were so beautiful.
One of the pomes that stuck out to me starts liked this: “Life seems endless as time / Until it crushes your mind”. This one resonated with me, and I still think about it even after I finished reading the book. It reminds me of my grandparents. When I was younger, I always thought they’d live forever, but now that I’m older—and they’re older—they’re suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s. Aging really does affect the mind.
I’ve read Hydrus’ other poetry book, Awakend, and I can’t choose which one I like more. Both were expertly written, but out of both books, “Search” was my favorite poem.
