This book was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.
The characters and adventures in The Aufterra Chronicles come before the main series. I feel like it would be okay to read this one before or after the main series, so I read it before, and it acts like a tease for the rest of the story to come.
First of all, I liked how short the book was. It made it very easy to read and to read quickly. My favorite character was Sparkle. I enjoyed learning about her ancestry as she learned about it. Her journeys were entertaining and the twists were interesting. She made me want to keep reading!
I’ve never read a book written this way before. Sparkle was the steady character. Every other chapter was about her and built upon her mystery. The remaining chapters focused on different characters and were more like short stories or a short story collection, each having a beginning, middle, and end. I also enjoyed reading these; though, I also wanted more from each of them.
Overall, I’m giving The Aufterra Chronicles a 3.5 star rating (rounded up to 4 stars on Amazon and Goodreads). As I mentioned, I wanted more from the other characters, and there were a few editing issues. However, if you’re wanting to read an indie fantasy book full of magic, try this one out!
