All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Solid four stars!

I truly enjoyed the rollercoaster of emotions that Anthony Doerr created. The two protagonists were also my favorite characters, Marie-Laure and Werner. First of all, I don’t read too many books where a character is blind. That was a unique characteristic that really made this book stick out.

From the beginning, I was curious to find out how these two characters impacted each other’s live and if they were to ever meet or how they’d meet. The author did not disappoint. Although it took me awhile to read, the last bit of the story I consumed quite quickly. The heart strings were pulled, and it left me with a feeling that I need to step back and fully digest the story before I start reading my next book.

I did have a conflicting opinion about how the book was constructed. That’s that I wasn’t a fan of the time jumping around, but I also can’t see it written in any other order. Thus, I gave All the Light We Cannot See four solid stars.
